Why monitor your weight?
68% of adult Americans are either overweight or struggling with obesity.* These conditions can lead to serious health conditions such as diabetes, cancer, or coronary heart disease.**
How does it work?
The scale operates according to the B.I.A. principle (bioelectric impedance analysis). This enables the measurement of body fat and other body composition measurements within seconds by sending a harmless and unnoticeable signal through your body from the conductors in the scale. Muscle tissue and water have good conductivity, and therefore lower resistance. Fatty tissue and bones, on the other hand, have low conductivity as they hold a lower water content than muscles. Low conductivity (= high impedance) points to the presence of more body fat.
Body fat percentage:
The human body consists of fat and lean body mass. A high or too low percentage of body fat indicates a higher risk of disease and cannot be visually assessed.
Body water percentage:
The human body consists of approximately 65% water. Water content is an important factor for personal well-being. If it is too low, it can result in fatigue, loss of concentration and other problems.
Muscle percentage:
Muscles power your body and good musculoskeletal structure supports bones and can remove load from the spine. Even moderate physical activity can contribute to a healthy musculoskeletal structure.
Bone mass:
Bones are subject to natural constitution, deterioration and aging processes and bone mass reaches its maximum between ages 30-40. Healthy nutrition (e.g. calcium) and exercise can counteract this decrease.
